Summer of sadness.

Summer of tragedies.

It began with Jenna’s father. Then a young 46 year-old father of four children from Arborfield, a town 15 minutes away from my hometown. Then my cousin Stefan. Now, yesterday morning, a 16 year-old and an 18 year-old from Nipawin died in a car accident.

They were brother and sister.

They had a 21 year-old brother, Wes, who died in an accident a year ago in July.

In one year their parents lost three of their five children. How do you get over something like that?

I graduated with Karen, who is related to this family. Last year she lost her grandmother in the spring. Then her cousin Wes in the summer. Then that fall her mother passed away unexpectedly and tragically in a farming accident.

Less than a year later, two more of her cousins taken.

How much can one family take?

I think about what happened to Stefan, and try to multiple the grief and pain. It is too much to bear.

*sigh* It’s all too sad, depressing, and real. Losing my Dad has been enough. Way more than enough. I cannot fathom losing anyone more. Everytime I get a glimpse of reality, the pain is absolutely excruciating. I hurt even more when I think of others & their losses as well.
