Sleepless nights.

I generally have no problem falling asleep at night, but it’s staying asleep that eludes me. For instance, last night I woke up at one, three, and five am. Possibly even more, those examples are when I was awake enough to check what time it was.

When at the lake this past weekend, we made Labrador tea which apparently is supposed to help a person sleep. I did sleep well that night, but I always do at the lake. I should have picked a bag of leaves to make tea in the city to test whether or not it works.

Today I googled ”sleep remedies” and found this website with 41 tips for insomnia. Some just aren’t an option for me (living with 3 other people means the TV/VCR/DVD in my bedroom are lifesavers and the thought of drinking warm milk makes me want to gag) but there are a few others I plan on trying.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fall asleep and stay sleeping until morning? I really don’t want to be walking around like a zombie when doing my internship this fall!

I wish I had a magical cure but I don’t…I seem to have the same problem.

I have a sleep playlist, and I’d highly recommend it. Get quiet, calming music - perhaps Enya, Keane, or Sigur Rós. Then play it every night as you’re falling asleep. At first, it may be hard to sleep, but after a week or so (for me at least) as soon as I heard the first song on the playlist, I was out. It kind of trains your body to sleep when you hear those sounds.
The first song on my playlist is The Trapeze Swinger, by Iron and Wine, followed by the self entitled album, Sigur Rós.
    Good luck!

Every now and then, I can’t fall asleep. I’ve tried various things, and only one has worked - take one Gravol before bed. It probably wouldn’t be a good thing to start doing EVERY night, but every now and then when you need a good night’s sleep doesn’t hurt. And it will help you sleep straight through the night.
